Homemade Salted Caramel Recipe

Do you love eating caramel sauce? It can be consumed with a variety of food items if you want a delicious treat. Although you can buy it at stores, it is always better to make it at home. Homemade caramel sauce will be healthier and cost you less as well. It will not contain artificial thickeners or sweeteners.

If you feel that making homemade caramel sauce is quite difficult, do not worry. There are easy recipes that can be made without investing a lot of time and effort. You will only need a few basic ingredients to make it. Here are all the ingredients:

Ingredients required for the recipe:

  • Water: A little bit of water is required for making the caramel recipe so that the sugar can dissolve easily.
  • Granulated sugar: Sugar is necessary to make the caramel sauce sweet. Although many people look for alternatives, it is always recommended to add sugar as it helps to develop the caramel flavour.
  • Whipped cream: Instead of light whipped cream, you should always choose heavy whipped cream. It should have at least 36% fat. Otherwise, the sauce might be a little too thin.
  • Butter: Butter is essential to develop the taste of the sauce. Although unsalted butter is mostly preferred, you can choose salted butter as well. Just make sure you choose good quality salted butter like President butter that is not too salty.
  • Vanilla extract: You should always consider adding pure vanilla extract. However, other options are acceptable as well.
  • Salt: It is recommended to use sea salt for this recipe. However, you can use table salt if you do not have sea salt.

Steps to make the Caramel Sauce

Making caramel sauce is a very easy task. Here are all the steps you need to follow to make the caramel sauce:

  • Add water and sugar: Take a large saucepan and add water and sugar to it. Put it on the stove, set the flame to medium, and wait until the sugar dissolves.
  • Wait until it boils: When the sugar completely dissolves in the water, you should increase the flame and wait until it starts to boil. Make sure that you do not stir it in between. The colour of the mixture will slowly start to get amber after a few minutes.
  • Add the cream: Once the mixture in the saucepan turns amber, turn the flame off and add the whipped cream to it. You will have to stir the mixture to ensure that the whipped cream mixes properly.
  • Mix everything else: Once the whipped cream mixes, you will have to add the rest of the ingredients that include President salted butter, vanilla, and salt.
  • Allow it to cool: Once you have mixed all the ingredients properly, your caramel sauce is ready. Now, you only have to cool it down. Wait till it reaches room temperature and seal it before storing it in the fridge.
